Dear friends,

It is so nice to hear from an old friend. Chester, your letter is very interesting. I am glad that you
still maintain the same spirit 40 years ago, a leader knows no failure. We look forward to seeing

We knew that 陳鎮國 would accomplish something unusual when we were at Lutheran Student
House. At that time, he was working to two projects: Self-strengthening movement and young
boys and girls society. Both of them were very successful, especially the second one. No one
expected that so many girls would pay fees to join the boys to play in the parks. In addition,
Chester made a  fortune out of this.

What a strange tone! :-)  I have been looking for the answer too.
What did Bob tell you? It's God's blessing for putting us together and things have worked out very
well. My oldest daughter has a webpage with some family pictures at

http://web.mac.com/lynn.marrs/iWeb/Site/Yang%20Family%20Welcome/Yang%20Family%
20Welcome.html

I hope that some other friends will also share with us some their family photos, not just the old
ones at the Lutheran House when we were single. One picture is better than a thousand words,
right? In one respect, only the wives, kids and kids' kids are news.

Bill, thanks for the website. There are many more Lutheran Student Housemates not on this e-mail
list.

Beside our favorite activity - " free " field trip, I still remember: (1) our annual Christmas hot-pot gathering, those
food was  so goooood! (2) One November morning, I got up early and picked up a newspaper, the shocking
headline made me rushed back in the lobby started shouting: " Wake up guys, JFK got assassinated !!!!! " (3) One
another unforgettable thing was to listen to you guys practing the German intonation. Especially Hong Wen-Chia,
the way he cleared his throat - it was soooooo funny, I cracked myself up. (4) One night, we got a new game (
Scrabble ) to play, we were so into it and we didn't even go to bed that night. ( Note: We did not have morning
class )

We had many memorable " good-old-days " . but, it has gone with the wind.

Hi Chester,

God closed one door and He opens another for you. People said: Yesterday was history, today is " present " ( gift
from God ) and to plan tomorrow intelligently.
Let go the " past " ! Use today ( God-given present ) and enjoy the remaining of our golden years wisely. God
bless you guys and have a nice day.

Your friend always,
Bobby Chen

ps: Back in December 1967 ( 40 years ago ), we visited Hsu Da-Ling in Berkeley, He and his wife took us to see
UC Berkeley Campus - 1964 Student's Free    Speech Movement location and we went to San Francisco's
Fisherman Wharf, he bought some seafood ( crabs ) and we had a delicious seafood dinner over their tiny but
warm apartment, that was our golden days when we were young

Hi Mark,

You were right about the unexpected sad ending of " Student Selfconscious Movement ". I feel this tragic ending is
way beyond my imagination. Chester and other members are the survivors of Free China's Holocaust ( based on
the previous tiny population on the tiny island and powerless and inexperienced young students ). I was furious
last night, I am cool now.
