Rendy has indicated that he would like to spend seven more years as a professional tennis player. Goal? Yes, for an immediate goal, he hopes that he
can become one of 32 seeds at U. S. Open, 2010 by winning some matches and obtaining more ATP points for ranking at Canadian Open and Cincinnati
tennis classic in the following two weeks. Can he do it? Is he too old to do it? As a tennis fanatic and a part time tennis teacher/coach for 30 plus years,
my answer is that he may have another 3 to 5 good years. Why? To me, he is a late boomer. He also said that he did not spend as much time and effort
like Michael Chang, Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras, etc. in their younger years. He will move into top 20 rankings under two IFs for now. He must keep
himself injury-free and physically strong and stronger in the years to come. Secondly, he must understand fully what SPEED means, work hard on it and
get to as close as Michael's in his golden years. In old days, we called SPEED to be foot speed. Nowadays, neurologist give tennis coaches/players a
new term, BRAIN SPEED, instead. It makes a lot of sense to me. Well, this is my humble two cents.

Hi, Bill.

I am inviting you, 1960 HCHS classmates and all of your web site viewers to join my "Friends of Rendy Lu"
facebook. I have heard and read about Rendy, his family and his hardship during his professional career either
from tennis friends or in the newspapers since he turned pro in ATP tour. I first met him at a fund raising event
which was sponsored by a group of tennis players/fanatics, mostly from Taiwan at New York
Taiwanese/Presbyterian church in Queens(?) and at Hudson Riverside(?) Tennis Club right next to the river,
when he played 2008 U. S. Open. They raised probably a few thousand dollars. The same group of caring and
concerned friends did it again at 2009 U. S. Open period. On a late surprising notice, I drove more than 5 hours
with my wife to attend the second fund raising dinner party in Flushing, NY. In terms of fund, they did a bit better.

On the court side, we did spend some time to talk about tennis and other things on two different occasions: a
luncheon in Washington, DC after 2009 Legg Mason Tennis Classic and a dinner in Rockville, Maryland after the
same event yesterday. From our conversation and his body languages, my observation is that Rendy is a very
nice young man as a person while as a tennis player, he is a very humble one.

I have watched him playing tennis matches at two Legg Mason classics and two U. S. Opens in person as well
as the match against Andy Roddick in the round of 16 at 2010 Wimbledon on TV. Indeed, he has improved his
games tremendously since 2009. By beating Andy in fifth set(11-9?) and winning two of three tie breakers(2nd
and 3rd set), he showed us that he does have the quality of champion that is SKILL, STRENGTH and SPEED. I
witnessed that improvement at the practice sessions with Tomas Berdych, Xavier Malisse and Viktor Troicki.
Rendy admitted that he had great honors to practice with Berdych, 2010 Wimbledon Finalist, at his personal
request. Tomas even told one of reporters from Taiwan that he saw Rendy's games improving a lot.
