|Dewberry: 2007 November Holiday Greetings to Zhu Shi Fu Xiao Classmates
received from Dewberry
On this joyous occasion, may the spirit, peace and goodwill of the season fill your heart and warm your soul.
Thanks to Chen Yeemay and Chen An-Chi for visiting me this year. My apology for not being able to join you all at the reunion in Taipei. Claudia, Litai and David have
made tremendous efforts to keep class of 62 closely knitted.
Here is a kindly reminder: There is no need to wait till the next reunion to chat. We could learn from Athena communicating and providing health and pharmaceutical
updates online to classmates on a regular basis.
One significant event I participated this year was attending former First Lady Johnson’s memorial service at the L. B. Johnson Library. I wasn’t there trying to catch a
glimpse of high society. Putting the history of half a century in a nutshell: On June 27, 1950 President Truman ordered the Seventh Fleet to prevent any attack on
Formosa by Communist China and subsequently reinstated military and economic aid to Chiang Kai-Shek. During the following 20 years Presidents Eisenhower,
Kennedy and Johnson continued to protect Taiwan. God bless America!
Millions of citizens found succor through President Johnson’s 1965 Medicare amendment to the Social Security Act. I paid heartfelt tribute to the Johnson’s family
on behalf of the people in Taiwan.
So much for standing by democracy. When was the last time you celebrated absolutely nothing but the pure joy of being alive? Celebrate every breath we take,
starting with sharing a recipe of Mediterranean seafood extravaganza Cioppino with my beloved classmates:
1 cup oysters
1 cup sliced Mahi Mahi
1 cup prawns
6 large size clams
5 cups shrimp stock
½ up Italian parsley
1 tablespoon grapeseed oil
1 tablespoon chopped garlic
1 tablespoon chopped basil
1. In a large pot over medium heat, simmer lobster in 5 cups of shrimp
stock till half way done.
2. Add 6 calms to simmer till they are open.
3. Add oysters, Mahi Mahi, prawns, grapeseed oil, garlic, parsley and basil
continue to simmer for at least 5 minutes but NO more than 10 minutes.
Voila! Bon Appetit!
